Week of October 8
The CER method of scientific explanation will be utilized after students watch a convection demonstration. Later in the week students will complete a thermal energy interactive online activity.

Students will complete a Quizlet study set of unit vocab. Notes will be provided on 3 methods of thermal energy transfer. The CER model of writing scientific explanations will be reviewed and practiced.

Week of September 24th
Students will wrap up their Balloon Car reflection. Then they will begin Thermal energy unit vocab. In addition, students will practice and refine their thermometer reading skills.

Week of September 17th
Students are discovering important elements of the STEM process as they compete to create a balloon car that will travel furthest distance! With Phase 1 completed last week, students are now entering phase 2, where a variety of materials may be utilized. The balloon challenge will take place on Tuesday! Good luck super scientists! Later in the week students will be introduced to Thermal energy unit vocabulary. A brief introduction will follow.
